About The Artists

Produced by the legendary Chester "Memphis Gold" Chandler, I Was Born In It is a compilation of songs of praise for the Church of God In Christ's 114th Holy Convocation. Each contributing artist was truly born into the Church of God In Christ as they are descendants of the Chandler, Dickerson, Freeman family.

Chester "Memphis Gold" Chandler, legendary Blues artist and Vietnam War Veteran, has performed on nine international tours and numerous festivals worldwide. Chester's grandfather was a founder of the Church of God In Christ. 

Verneda Rush Cole  began singing at the age of 5. She has shared a  stage with Emmitt Powell and Gospel Elite lead singer Verlin Sanders. Verneda provided background vocals to Martha Wash and has dedicated her life to the Church of God In Christ.
